The Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated his belief in the Almighty God to guide human affairs and make all things possible.
Dr Bawumia, seeking to serve the country as President after eight years as Vice President, has adopted the slogan "It is Possible" for his campaign, inspired by his firm belief in God.
On Sunday, as part of his tour of the area, Dr Bawumia addressed a Catholic congregation in Atimatim, in the Afigya Kwabre East Constituency. He reaffirmed his faith, emphasising to the congregation that "with God, all things are possible."
Dr Bawumia referenced his journey to the Presidency, which began last year when the NPP historically elected him to lead the party as its Presidential Candidate.
He said every step along the way is ordained by God, adding that he will continue to place his trust in God and seek divine favour. Quoting Psalm 127, he stated, "Unless God builds the house, you labour in vain," underscoring his trust in the sovereignty of God.
Dr Bawumia’s use of this powerful Christian quote to affirm his belief in God's ways drew applause from the congregation.
As a Muslim, his reference to the Bible impressed many, emphasising his inclusive approach. His visit to the Catholic Church also brought members of the two leading faiths in the country, Christians and Muslims, together under one roof.
Several Imams and Zongo Chiefs from the Constituency joined members of the clergy and traditional rulers at the Church, where Dr Bawumia addressed both community stakeholders and the congregation.
The Imams, clergy, and traditional rulers expressed delight at this display of tolerance and unity in the chapel, particularly with the Imams observing the service.
Dr Bawumia commended this harmonious gathering, adding that seeing leaders of different religious groups together reflects the peace and unity Ghanaians enjoy.
"There is peace and understanding between Muslims and Christians in Ghana, and it is one of the reasons we have stability," he remarked. "It is beautiful to see Imams here in this chapel."
"This reflects our mutual understanding and respect for each other. You would rarely see this anywhere else in the world, but it is happening here in Ghana." Dr Bawumia urged all to continue living in harmony and respecting one another.
