Minister for Communications and Digitisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has promised that all newly sworn-in ministers of state will ensure that the objectives set out by President Akufo-Addo in his second administration are achieved.
Some 28 ministers-designate appointed by the President on Friday evening at the Jubilee House took the oath of allegiance and oath of secrecy after being vetted and approved by Parliament.
Speaking on behalf of her colleague ministers after the swearing-in ceremony, the Ablekuma West MP pledged before all those present, as well as all Ghanaians their resolve to live up to expectations and uphold the virtues characterised by the various ministries.
“We pledge not to let you down and will live up to the oath we’ve just sworn and discharge our responsibilities to the best of our ability. We thank the Right Honourable Speaker and Members of Parliament for the broad bipartisan approval,” she said.
Mrs Owusu-Ekuful also expressed her gratitude and appreciation to President Akufo-Addo for the confidence reposed in them to assist him in his governance of the nation.
Some sworn-in ministers of state include Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul, Foreign Affairs Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Sarah Adwoa Safo for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen.
The Communications Minister further urged “all Ghanaians to kindly remember us (Ministers) in your prayers that together, we will work to justify our inclusion.”
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has admonished the new ministers of state to uphold the interest of the Republic and the promotion of the people’s well-being for the next four years.
“I have had the opportunity to set and work with many of you in my first term of office. Some of you are new to the workings of government nonetheless I am confident that together we will work to realise the vision of the mandate given to me by the Ghanaian people,” he added.
