The Old Girls’ Association (OGA) of Wesley Girls’ High School has celebrated a historic milestone in Ghana’s political landscape with a congratulatory message to Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
This is on her election as the first female Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana.
In a statement signed by the National President, Effie Simpson, the OGA hailed Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s achievement as a groundbreaking moment for women in Ghana.
“You have really blazed the trail through your many achievements, culminating in the elevation to this high office,” the message read.
Describing her ascent as a source of inspiration, the association commended her for breaking yet another barrier, emphasising the impact of her success on empowering women.
“You have indeed shattered another glass ceiling, and this feat will motivate and empower current and future generations of Old Girls and the entire Ghanaian female population to reach for the highest,” the statement noted.
The congratulatory message also paid homage to the values instilled in Wesley Girls’ alumnae, values that the OGA believes have been embodied by Professor Opoku-Agyemang throughout her career.
“We trust you will continue to live by the hard work and time-tested values that have brought you this far,” the message affirmed, referencing the school’s cherished motto: “Live Pure, Speak True, Right Wrong, Follow the King.”
The association’s president expressed high hopes for Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s leadership, underscoring the pride and admiration she has elicited among her alma mater and the nation at large.
“The OGA salutes you,” Effie Simpson declared, encapsulating the pride shared by the entire Wesley Girls’ community.
This milestone not only cements Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s legacy but also signifies a pivotal moment in Ghana’s gender equality journey, paving the way for more women to occupy the highest echelons of power.
