The Ranking Member on Parliament's Defence and Interior Committee, James Agalga, is questioning the rationale behind the position accompanying the newly appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
President Akufo-Addo appointed Commissioner of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, as the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations.
However, Mr Agalga believes the specific position of 'Operations' lacks context and clarity.
Jubilee House stated that the appointment follows the advice of the Police Council during its meeting today, where COP Yohuno's exceptional credentials and dedication to duty were acknowledged.
Speaking on Joy FM's Newsnite, the Builsa North MP expressed concern over what he says appears to be a move to create another office for 'administration.'

“Is that to say that we're going to have yet another appointment in charge of administration or what, what I do and what the position has always been that we've had one slot reserved for Deputy Inspector General of Police?" he said.
Mr Agalga was emphatic that the wording could have been straightforward if the intent was to subsequently announce a second officer in a similar position.
"And so I thought, the wording of that letter would have been that okay, he is Deputy Inspector General of Police, simple and straightforward. But to say he's Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of operation could mean that we may have a second appointment. If a second appointment is made to occupy the position of Deputy Inspector General of Police in addition to Christian Yohuno’s appointments that will be problematic for me.
Security expert, Adam Bonaa speaking on the same show agreed with the MP's position.
Both guests, however, congratulated the new Deputy IGP and acknowledged his contribution to the service so far.
