The leader of the Alliance for Revolutionary Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has questioned former President John Dramani Mahama’s proposed 24-hour economy policy, challenging the foundation of such an initiative without a strong entrepreneurial base.
Speaking at the IEA Evening Encounters on the 1st of October in Accra on Tuesday, October 1, Mr Kyerematen argued that without enterprises and entrepreneurs to drive the economy, the vision of a 24-hour economy would be difficult to realise.

He emphasised the critical role of businesses in sustaining economic growth, stating that creating an environment where enterprises can thrive is essential for any ambitious plan such as Mahama’s.
According to Kyerematen, the success of a 24-hour economy hinges on the ability of entrepreneurs to innovate and create jobs, driving production and service delivery around the clock.
Mr Kyerematen further explained that his economic strategy focuses on empowering businesses through policy reforms and support for local entrepreneurs.

He highlighted the need for a robust private sector as the engine of growth, adding that without these key players, the concept of a round-the-clock economy would be empty rhetoric.
“What I want to build in Ghana through the Enterprise Economy is something I have done successfully in other African countries."
"I can say with pride that about 60-70% of top-tier performing companies in Ghana passed through my hands at Empretec,” Mr Kyerematen said.
