Grammy-winning music star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has revealed that life has been meaningless to him since he lost his mother, Mrs Jane Dolapo Balogun.
The singer took to his Instagram story to express heartbreak over his mum’s death, revealing that since she died, life has not returned to normalcy for him.
He noted his mother's passing inspired one of his recent songs 'IDK'. This, he said, is because he felt that despite his successes and building a family with four kids, life to him became somewhat meaningless.
He wrote “Made idk days after I lost my mum. Life’s been meaningless! But we dey!! Sometimes u got to let everything go. Work with God! [sic].”

Wizkid lost his mother in August 2023 and she was buried the following month.
Born on July 14, 1957, Jane is survived by her husband,, Muniru Olatunji Balogun, and four children. Her children are Yetunde Balogun, Omolara Osunkoya, Olubusayo Balogun, and Ayodeji ‘Wizkid’ Balogun.
Born in Surulere on July 16, 1990, Wizkid grew up in a polygamous home with a Muslim father and a Christian mother.
Last month, the multiple award-winning singer hinted that he is on a five-year hiatus from music. The Afrobeats star stated that he would be taking four or five years off the music scene.
He added that he is considering taking up football or golf.
Writing in broken English, he wrote, “Back in 4 years, make una papa chop him money small or maybe five or I fit still go dey play ball now. Or make I start dey play golf. fifa or wrestling b*tch!”All of una dey craze! Everybody dey mad. On some G shit, I hope you mof**kas alright body mind and soul and taking time out to enjoy with your loved ones [sic].”
