Nigerian Afrobeats singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has taunted his colleague Davido after his album Morayo emerged as Apple Music’s most-streamed album of 2025 in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Morayo beat Davido’s 5ive, which ranks at number two on the list.
Before the release of his project, Davido had boasted that his album would overshadow those released before it. Many believed it was a shade at Wizkid, who had released an album during the same period.
“Album go swallow album,” Davido had boasted in Pidgin.
Following Morayo’s emergence as the number one Sub-Saharan African album of the year on Apple Music, ahead of Davido’s, Wizkid appeared to have shaded Davido in a recent tweet referencing the earlier boast.
Wizkid wrote, “Dem say album go swallow album dem dey ground dey smell now! ”
His tweet has been interpreted by many as a direct shade at Davido, with some fans fearing it could reignite their social media rivalry.
However, Davido has yet to respond.
