The Ghana Education Service in partnership with Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has begun a fumigation exercise in Senior High Schools in the Central Region.
The six-day exercise which started on Saturday, has seen most of the Senior High schools being disinfected.

The schools include St Augustine’s College, Mfantsepim School, Adisadel College, Wesley Girls Senior High School, Ghana National Senior High School and Holy Child Senior High School.
The exercise is aimed at eliminating bedbugs from second cycle boarding schools.

A similar exercise was conducted in the Ashanti Region where over 150 Senior High Schools were fumigated.

The invasion of bedbugs and other dangerous insects in second cycle intuitions has become a cause of worry to both school authorities, parents and students.

The increasing cases of bedbugs infestation in schools, have raised serious health concerns which have compelled the education authorities to find a better solution to deal with the problem.
