Research Consultant at IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, Dennis Asare says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has fulfilled 56.77% of the total 510 promises in the 2016 manifesto campaign.
On Wednesday, the policy think tank held an event dubbed: IMANIfesto, to analyse the promises made in the last elections against their realisation at a time when the country gears up for another general election in December.
According to IMANI, the Akufo-Addo-led government fulfilled promises on economic, governance, social service, infrastructure and human capital investment within a period of four years summed up to 56.77%.
“In their 2016 manifesto, they made 510 promises and as at now they have fulfilled only 56.77%,” Mr Asare said.
Last month, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia during an interview on Asempa FM’s talk show Ekosii Sen, stated that, his government has fulfilled 80% of its 2016 campaign promises.
“80% of our promises have been fulfilled: [the projects are] either 100% delivered or we are delivering. All these projects are on the delivery tracker,” he said on the show.
The research results of IMANI Africa and that of the NPP’s results seems to contradict each other on the performance of the incumbent government in connection with its previous election manifesto.
The IMANIfesto analysis concluded that “the 56.77% signifies a fair satisfactory performance.”
