The former First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama has extended her warm wishes to mothers across the country for their various contribution and the unique role they play in the development of the country.
Taking to her social media handle, she commended all-female frontline health workers who selflessly dedicated themselves to the fight against the deadly coronavirus after Ghana recorded its first two cases in March last year.
"Let me also appreciate the female frontline workers who have fearlessly been at the forefront of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic."
Mrs Mahama who has a soft spot for the welfare of underprivileged individuals particularly orphans and vulnerable children also acknowledged matrons and staff workers of orphanages for their effort in catering and caring for such persons.
The second Sunday of May is celebrated worldwide as Mothers Day, the former First Lady also took the opportunity to wish all single parents in the country urging them not to rest on their laurels but to continue with their responsibilities.
She said their efforts in ensuring a better life for their wards will be rewarded.
