Asante Kotoko deputy captain Emmanuel Gyamfi has been referred to the Ghana FA disciplinary committee after he was charged with misconduct following his stamp on Andy Okpe in the Ghana Premier League matchday 29 fixture against Inter Allies FC in Dawu.
The Porcupine Warriors beat the Capelli Boys 3-1 to go level on points with league leaders Hearts of Oak on Monday but while all appeared well, a video of an off-the-ball incident where Emmanuel Gyamfi stamped Andy Okpe went viral.
It’s unclear if the FA prosecutor acted upon seeing the video or a formal complaint was made by the Inter Allies F,. The Kotoko deputy captain appeared to have lost his cool in the 65th minute of the game and stamped the feet of his opponent although Okpe was not in possession of the ball.
The Official Ghana FA charge sheet reads
“Emmanuel Gyamfi: You: on 14th of June 2021, during the match between Inter Allies FC and your team at the Theatre of Dreams, did stamp player number 45 of Inter Allies (Andy Okpe) in an off-ball situation around the 65th minute of the game, an action which in the opinion on the association is an improper and likely to bring the game into disrepute,” the charge sheet reads.
Asante Kotoko play Hearts of Oak on the in 11 days at the Accra Sports stadium in a potential title decider and Gyamfi could miss the tie if he is banned by the Disciplinary committee after receiving his official report.
The winger is expected to respond to the charges by Friday June 18.
Meanwhile, Dreams FC Coach Vladislav Viric has been charged for misconduct, handed one match ban and a fined Ghc2,000 for making unsavory comments with the potency of bringing the game into disrepute after the match against Asante Kotoko SC at the Len Clay Stadium.
Viric has further been asked to publicly apologize to the Referees of the GFA or serve a further 6 months ban.
