The Tamale Dakpema Nyab Dakpema Fuseini Bawa has called for calm amidst the recent brouhaha over who is the Chief of Tamale.
He said what happened between his palace and some chiefs in the Metropolis two weeks ago was the first of its kind, describing it as an unfortunate incident which should never have happened.
His comments come on the back of the recent backlash he received from some chiefs in the Metropolis for what they described as professing on himself a paramountcy title.
It will be recalled that on 29 January 2022, the Chief of Tamale Nyab Dakpema Fuseini Bawa in collaboration with Care International was to hold a durbar for chiefs on the sensitization of Covid-19 response and conflict mitigation at his palace.
Flyers that were designed to advertise the said program carried an inscription that described Nyab Bawa Fuseini with a paramountcy title, something some other chiefs in the Metropolis protested which ended up forcing organizers of the program to postpone the event.
Speaking for the first time on the incident at a press conference in his palace, Naa Bawa Fuseini said a simple dialogue could have solved the unfortunate situation, adding that it’s never too late to smoke the peace pipe, something he said will definitely happen.
He said there has never been and will never be an issue between himself and the Overlord of Dagbon who he affectionately described as his grandson with whom he discusses issues of development.
Naa Feseini Bawa reiterated the need to maintain peace in the Metropolis, adding that without peace in the area there will be no development; something he said no leader would wish for, under his reign.
He said the press conference was to calm down tempers and urged his people to be ambassadors of peace no matter the level of provocation.
