Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Ogum Narteh says he will not refuse the opportunity to lead the Black Stars should he become available to be in the dugouts.
The former WAFA boss had been mentioned on a number of occasions by former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe as one of the names to be considered for the Black Stars coaching role prior to the appointment of a new technical team.
"I will suggest that we give it to a local coach, in the person of the trainer of Asante Kotoko, Dr Prosper Ogum," the former FA boss said on GTV Sports Plus last week.
Narteh has been a good addition to the Porcupine Warriors since arriving at the club for the start of the 2021/22 season. He oversaw his side beat Accra Lions in their last home game of the first round of the season at the Baba Yara Stadium with a 3-1 scoreline over the weekend.
Asked in his post-match interview following the convincing victory what he makes of the suggestion by Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, the Kotoko gaffer said, "I think probably he sat from afar and he seeing what I’m doing, per his astuteness…I mean we know him to be following football over decades, I mean so many years as a seasoned football administrator. So I think per his experience and what he is seeing about me and being there as a former FA president and with the Black Stars and knowing the dynamics of what goes in at the Black Stars, probably that is making him take that informed decision about me."
Kotoko currently occupy the first position on the Ghana Premier League table after the first round of games with an outstanding game against Accra Hearts of Oak still yet to be played.
