The head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Samuel Boadu, has aimed a slight dig at rivals Asante Kotoko, claiming the Kumasi-based would not have gotten the win against Hearts' junior team.
Hearts and Kotoko came up against each other at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, February 20, in the Ghana Premier League's only outstanding game from the first round. After the end of proceedings, neither of the sides found the back of the net with the game ending 0-0.
With the bragging rights also at stake, the Phobians looked the happiest team after the game considering their performances in the previous 16 games played compared to the Porcupine Warriors. But Boadu believes the Phobians junior team would not even have lost to the league leaders.
"This was not one of our best games, our best game of the first round was against Legon Cities, if we had used our junior team (Auroras) against them today, Kotoko can still not score us,” Boadu told reporters after the game.
“This was not the true reflection of the game, you could see that we created a lot of chances, it was just unfortunate that we couldn’t punish them,” he added.
The result on Sunday sees Kotoko maintain a 12-point lead over the Accra-based side heading into the second round of the season.
