Former Asante Kotoko defender, Samuel Inkoon has revealed his desire to play in the Ghana Premier League again after more than a decade.
Inkoom left the shores of Ghana in 2009 to play in Europe following his departure from the Porcupine Warriors.
The right-back recently left Georgia side Torpedo Kutaisi after his contract with the club expired in December. Prior to joining Torpedo, the 32-year-old had played for Basel, Dnipro, DC United and a host of others.
But he says he is open to coming back to play in the GPL, where he hopes his involvement could be a motivation for the youngsters.
“I believe that coming to the GPL will be good to motivate the young players,” Inkoom told Joy Sports in an exclusive interview.
“There are lots of offers from clubs around as well as clubs in Europe. But at the moment, I am talking with my agent because at the end of the day I want to bring something back to my country.”
Asked if he is surprised with the number of clubs from the GPL interested in acquiring his services, he added, “I am not surprised. Once you become a free agent as a player, a lot of clubs approach to try and get you to help them.”
“Nobody works for free. Although I am not money conscious, money is very important. I am not surprised because I know myself and I know what I can also bring on board.”
Despite his strong desire to return to the GPL, the former U-20 World Cup winner did not reveal the Premier League club he would like to join.
