2021 Olympian, Benjamin Azamati, clocked a time of 20.57s at the Lone star championship in Lubbock to equal the national 200m Indoor record.
Azamati, who raced for West Texas A&M, won gold at the meet now holds Ghana’s 100m record and shares the 200m Indoor record with fellow Olympian Joseph Paul Amoah.
Also on the night, the prolific sprinter broke the all-time meet record in the 60-meter dash with the second-fastest time in NCAA Division II history, running 6.55 to take the gold.
Azamati’s sizzling 20.57s is the second-fastest 200-meter time in Division II history and he’s now the nation’s leader in both events.
West Texas A&M men and women’s track and field teams made it a clean sweep to claim the Lone Star Conference championships at the LSC Indoor meet.
