After watching your favourite telenovela or reality TV show, you might most likely begin to admire the "perfect" love lives of the main characters.
Also, after viewing celebrity posts on social media platforms such as Facebook or TikTok, you realise how lovely their relationships are.
As a result, you begin to imagine yourself in their shoes, wondering what it will be like to have such a promising love life.
The actuality of these liaisons is discussed on Prime Morning, Thursday, with life coach Alice Frimpong Sarkodie and development practitioner Welberforce Amoh.
"Love isn't that rosy, but let's say television is telling us to "look at how love is portrayed on TV and make it that way," Madam Sarkodie declared.
Her point is that, although love in reality may not be exactly as shown on television, it can be achieved by putting in some extra effort to give comfort and happiness to your partner.
In addition, Alice advised unmarried individuals to seek compatibility with their partners before getting married, as it will make them know exactly how to treat their partner’s right.
"So you can get that beauty that TV is projecting on you if you also work on your relationship. It’s not far-fetched, but it demands a lot of work," the life coach explained.
Welberforce Amoh, a development practitioner, agreed with Madam Sarkodie, saying, "TV is good; of course, it projects what we want to see, but there are details that we do not see. The realities have difficulties, the angers, compromises, and so on, but on TV, we don’t see these challenges there."
He explained that what is important is the balance between what is seen on TV and what is practised.
Couples should note that movies and TV shows are scripted, and they must therefore not have unrealistic expectations of what an "ideal" relationship should be.
