The MP for Akatsi North, Peter Nortsu Koteo says he was shocked to find his name on the list of NDC MPs who are suspected to have defied the orders of the party and voted to approve Akufo-Addo's ministerial nominees.
Mr Nortsu Koteo in a press statement noted that he was not in any way part of those MPs who voted in that direction.
"In the afternoon of yesterday, my attention was drawn to a list circulating on social media of the names of some NDC MPs who were suspected to have defied the orders of the Party and voted to approve of ministerial nominees. My name happened to be the 14th and the last on the list although spelled wrongly," Mr Nortsu Koteo said.
He noted that it became necessary for him to respond to the wrongful accusation because he has never defied any instructions or directives of the party.
Mr Koteo noted that the news came to him as a shock and he believes some people want to tarnish his image.
"It has become necessary for me to respond to this wrongful accusation because ever since I joined the NDC from its inception and on my entry to Parliament in 2013, I have never defied any instructions or directives from the Party. This comes to me as a shock and an attempt to tarnish my image," he said.
He noted that he has informed the General Secretary of his innocence and is ready to subject himself to any internal investigation to clear his name.
Mr Peter Nortsu Koteo however urged his supporters in the Constituency to remain focused and not to be worried about the false accusation.
"I have informed the General Secretary of my innocence and added that I am ready to subject myself to any internal investigation to clear my name.
"I want to assure you my teeming supporters, rank and file of members of the NDC and the Branch and Constituency Executives not to be disturbed by this calculated attempt to malign me," he said.
