Former Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan, has raised a key concern about the form of Ghanaian players named in the Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Madagascar.
Ghana will play away to Madagascar in their penultimate game of the qualifiers on June 18 as they look to wrap up a place in next year's tournament to be staged in Ivory Coast.
Chris Hughton named a 24-man squad for the game with the latest changes being the addition of Ernest Nuamah and the return of Kwasi Okyere Wriedt to the team.
According to Gyan, some of the players called up suffered a slump in form in the final part of their respective league seasons which could affect their game.
"This latter stages of the leagues, you saw players form dropping which is a bit of a worry," he told Joy Sports.
"When you come to the national team, it's a different thing altogether. I'm sure they have played for quite a long time and they know how to do everything together.
"Everything is okay but I am a bit worried about this recent form that our players are having."
He added that the head coach of the team has done everything possible to ensure success and the rest depends on external factors.
"When you talk about Chris [Hughton], he has done what he has to do. It depends on the players, on management and support from Ghanaians to just deliver," he noted.
The Black Stars are expected to open camp on June 12 before jetting off to Madagascar.
