The Chief Executive Officer of Goldstar Consult, Sammy Anim Addo, believes the fixture between Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics will be a good curtain for the two teams ahead of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
Hearts and Olympics will face each other for the maiden edition of the Gbese Mantse Homowo Charity Cup on Sunday, August 20, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The game will serve as part of celebrations for the Homowo festival and also serve as preparations for both teams ahead of the new season.
Speaking during the press launch of the event, Anim Addo, who is also the organiser of the game said: "As part of bringing back the love [for Ghana football], it is good that we bring out all the competitions that need to spice up the Ghana Premier League."
"[Homowo Cup] is one of the major ones and the major one for Ghana football. Both Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics are big clubs, glorious clubs and if they have to play a, they normally play two games.
"If they have the opportunity to play another game before the league itself, it's a good curtain-raiser for all of them and a good pre-season for them."
The Ghana Football Association's Executive Member also added that there is a plan for the fixture to become a yearly thing and awaits a decision from both clubs.
"The discussion that we have had is for it to be an annual one. That the two clubs will put it in their calendar so that all pre-season games will be fixed with this game in mind for both Hearts of Oak and Olympics," he continued.
"Gradually, you don't know. Maybe we may bring in other teams out of the jurisdiction -- from the Ashanti Region, Northern, Brong Ahafo, Western or wherever.
"We may get to that level but for now, the focus is these two for them to give us all the entertainment we want."
Tickets for the game have been set as low as GHS 10.00 to enable more go to the stadium to watch the two teams play.
