The South African National Democratic Congress Council of Elders Chairman, Benjamin Kofi Quashie, has questioned the competence of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia regarding the unconscionable expenditure of the Bank of Ghana.
According to him, if the President and his Vice who were touted as very competent, can superintend over such inconsiderate and reckless expenditure of the Bank of Ghana, "Then how do we describe them? Super incompetent.”
In an interview on CTV he said that, if the competent pair can allow the BoG to print money in excess of ¢40 billion in 2022, which far exceeds the percentage of revenue accrued in the preceding year.
"It tells you these are people who have no regard for laid down procedure and a time would come that our kids, grandkids and great, great grandkids would come to realise that Ghana retrogressed under Akufo-Addo government.”
He indicated that the actions of the President have been supported by a super incompetent Vice President.
“The Vice President has become walking illegality, the Vice President has made a mockery of economics and has become a comedian of the people.”
Explaining further what he meant by the Vice President being a comedian, he argued that, Dr. Bawumia on the NPP campaign trail says he can fix the economy when given the opportunity to rule as president.
In the view of the SA Council Chair, "If as the head of the current NPP government's Economic Management Team, you have not been successful, then it stands to reason to conclude that it's for comic purposes for the same person to promise to do something worthwhile when given the opportunity to lead as president.”
