The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare has rejected assertions by COP Alex Mensah that he is the worst IGP Ghana ever had.
According to him, the facts are there for anyone to see and make a judgement.
The Director-General of Operations for the Ghana Police Service, COP George Alex Mensah while appearing before the ad-hoc parliamentary committee probing the leaked tape containing an alleged plot to oust the IGP, on Friday, September 1, said the current IGP Dr Akuffo Dampare is the worst the country has ever had as IGP.
In his estimation, with Dampare at the helm of affairs of the police administration, the Service is headed in the wrong direction.
“Honourable member and honourable chair... what I said yesterday if you give me the opportunity today, I will say it again. For me, for the 31 years I have been in the service, he is the worst IGP ever,” he said.

However, taking his turn before the committee on Tuesday, September 12, Dr Akuffo Dampare vehemently rejected the assertion.
According to him, probably COP Alex Mensah wanted to say the opposite.
"Perhaps my brother wanted to say I’m the best IGP but missed it. The records are there for everyone to see. It is not true my administration is the worst. He missed it. It can never be true that my administration is the work."
"It's unfounded and it is baseless. I think the best the person could have done if he had nothing to say is to keep quiet," he said.
