Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga has strongly denounced the recent attack on a truck transporting traders from Bawku to Binduri, resulting in the tragic killing of approximately seven people and injuring others.
In a statement released on Monday, January 22, Ayariga urged the Ghana Police Service to promptly launch investigations, apprehend the culprits, and ensure their prosecution.
He stressed that the occurrence of "senseless violence" in the area cannot be tolerated, and concerted efforts must be made to put an end to such acts.
"Let me once again condemn this attack on innocent men and women going about their businesses. The police must do whatever it takes to apprehend the perpetrators of this dastardly act."
"I once again appeal to all sides in the Bawku conflict to lay down their arms and let us end this senseless violence," an excerpt of his statement said.
Unknown assailants ambushed and unleashed gunfire on a truck on the outskirts of Binduri. The truck, en route to the Atuba market, fell victim to the attack on Monday, January 22.
This incident transpired after 48 hours of relative calm in the town. Among the victims are two males and four females.
