Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement For Change, has voiced his concerns about the fatigue of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Former Trade Minister Kyerematen expressed his belief that Dr. Bawumia lacks fresh ideas and innovations for Ghana's progress.
In an interview with TV3, Kyerematen cautioned against electing Dr. Bawumia as president in the upcoming December elections, suggesting it would be a significant mistake for the nation.
"Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is tired. There is nothing new he can do and that is a fact," Alan in quoted to have said in the interview.
This criticism from Kyerematen is not new, as he has previously questioned Vice President Bawumia's leadership, despite serving alongside him on the government's Economic Management Team (EMT) for nearly six years.
Alan Kyerematen had earlier told participants at the National Economic Summit on Friday, February 2, that the Finance Minister should not be credited for the improvement of the economy.
“The Minister of Finance has no right to be taking credit for the marginal improvements that we are seeing in the economy. Because it is clear that he was against Ghana going to the IMF.”
“I can say with pride that I was one of the few senior government leaders who made a decision that we had got to a point where we had no choice. That’s what leadership is about,” he said.
