The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey, has raised concerns about the credibility of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to him, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia cannot be trusted after he failed to deliver on some campaign promises made regarding his approach to restoring the economy.
Speaking at a press conference held on February 14, Mr. Kwetey stressed that the Vice President has a “bigger character deficit” and is therefore not fit to lead the country.
“If there is a single area where Alhaji Bawumia has the biggest character deficit, it is the area of credibility and trustworthiness. And we all know the critical value of trustworthiness in life and in leadership in particular. A few rhetorical questions will suffice,” he said.
Highlighting key policies Vice President Dr. Bawumia had projected to having an upper hand over yet failed to deliver on, Mr. Kwetey said it was important for the NDC to point out these issues ahead of the 2024 elections.
“Because he peddled many lies, we are duty bound to set the records straight. Moreover, we must bring the attention of Ghanaians to grave character and capacity failures that we believe must not be glossed over if trust is to be restored again in political leadership across the partisan spectrum,” he said.
He continued that despite the Vice President's proclamation to move Ghana from taxation to production, his administration has imposed more taxes on the Ghanaian people.
