Former President John Dramani Mahama says all government appointees and politically exposed individuals under his administration will be exempted as beneficiaries of national scholarship programs.
According to Mr. Mahama, the current NPP-led administration has mismanaged scholarship schemes in the country intended for underprivileged individuals.
Speaking at the launch of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC) manifesto on Saturday, August 24, Mr Mahama called for significant reforms to ensure that scholarships are distributed fairly and transparently.

“Government scholarships have been fraught with a lot of ‘kalabule,’ meaning deceit. We want to streamline it,” Mr Mahama stated.

According to the flagbearer of the NDC, the disqualification of politically-exposed individuals and government appointees will give the marginalized in society the opportunity to access quality education
“No political appointee must apply for the scholarships; you must pay. Children underprivileged, those who cannot afford it, are the ones who must get the scholarship,” he pointed out.
