The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is expected to face hefty sanctions following repeated incidence of poor crowd control.
On Thursday, the security detail at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium failed to keep fans in check as two separate incidents disrupted Ghana's AFCON 2025 Qualifier against Angola.
The first incident happened in the first half when a fan breached the security installments and made his way unto the pitch to hug Ghana striker Jordan Ayew.
He was promptly arrested after the match was briefly stopped.
This was the latest in a series of fan invasions, with Andre Ayew and Mohammed Kudus among the targeted players.
In 2020, Ghana was fined an amount of $10,000 after a fan invaded the pitch during an AFCON 2021 Qualifier between Ghana and South Africa. The said incident occurred in Cape Coast in November, 2019.
Moments after Thursday's 1-0 loss to Angola, angry fans invaded the pitch and vandalised property at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The Ghanaian fans threw plastic bottles and other items unto the pitch after Ghana conceded a 93rd-minute goal in the Group F encounter of the 2025Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier.
Fans kicked anything in sight and ended up destroying almost all the pitch panels installed at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday.
The police on duty managed to arrest one fan in relation to the vandalism.
Ghana have previously been fined for similar incidents.
In January, Ghana was fined an amount of $15,000 over crowd trouble during the Black Stars AFCON 2023 group encounter with Cape Verde.
