The Electoral Commission (EC) has been advised to remain impartial during the December 2024 general elections by having a clear understanding of the national vision.
This call is coming a few weeks to the elections.
According to Pastor Dr. Abu Bako, based on the national vision, the Commission has the role of educating and disseminating all kinds of voter and candidate information that will help to equip the citizenry whom he described as stakeholders of the EC and the country.
“If the Commission is effective in this role, all people who have attained voting age should, if possible, automatically register as voters (shareholders) because they realise the imperative role they play in shaping the nation through government. That voting public ought to consist of every citizen of acceptable voting age within the nation’s constitution”, Dr. Bako who is the Founder of Logos-Rhema Foundation for Leadership Resource Development disclosed in his book “The Strategic Voter”.
He continued that the Electoral Commission must reposed confidence in the voter, adding, “The EC role is very important in making stakeholders move on to become shareholders that is true owners and employers”.
The State of the Nation Falls Back to the Voter
Dr. Bako who is also an Agricultural Economist captured in his book the need for voters to be mindful of the leaders they choose.
According to him, ‘When shareholders or voters err in their selection of a board or leaders, they are the ones who will hear the consequences of any losses the company makes”.
Similarly at national level, he said, when the voting public errs, it is they who will tend to bear the greatest consequences of those errors, and rarely the political candidates.
“Do you wonder now, when civil unrest falls upon the nation, it is the citizenry first that suffers the worst consequences? Do you wonder why many political leaders have managed to escape justice for a long time? Do you wonder why as a kingdom citizen you have prayed long and hard and prayed in prayed out leaders but to no avail?” he added.

True Democracy
Dr. Bako also urged people to develop nations after God’s pattern of running kingdoms.
According to him, those who had even a limited understanding of the Lordship of God with regard to territories, as the basis of their nationhood, developed “First World Territories”.
He alluded that any party that exercises delegated authority must account to the one who delegates it
“We have noted that mankind has delegated authority. The authority in heaven and on earth is the Lord’s. Man must use that authority within the confines and boundaries of what the Lord has delegated. Then has to account to his fellow men and to God for the exercise of that authority”, he mentioned.
“That is why democracy is only democracy when practiced according to God’s kingdom patterns. One of the key Greek words for people is “demos” and ‘kratos” in the Greek word for ruling power derived from God only.
The book is divided into eight chapters.
Chapter 1 outlines the Ruling with God, with Chapter 2 explaining A Retrospective Digression and Chapter 3 The Power of Words. Chapter 4 captures The Media and Words and Chapter 5 Employers without Vision. Chapters 6 and 7 discuss Good Stewardship and The Power of the Vote. Chapter 8 however outlines Every Vote has Angelic Supervision.
The book expounds the very solemn stages of votership and its direct relation to the patterns of ancient covenant making.
Dr. Bako concluded that God is a covenant-keeping God and modern trivializing of covenant does not change the impact it has on the nation by poor or ignorant voting choices.
