Justice Blay scored from the spot to help Asante Kotoko beat Karela United and go top of the Ghana Premier League table.
After a non-eventful first half, Kotoko upped their effort in the second 45 minutes and were rewarded with a penalty around the hour mark.
Baba Yaya was brought down in the 18-yard box and Blay stepped up to dispatch a clinical finish.
Kotoko held on firm to ultimately claim all three points, completing the double against Karela, and extending the unbeaten run to six matches including five victories.
The rich vein of form sees them lead the pack with 34 points following Gold Stars' surprising defeat to relegation-threatened Legon Cities.
Karela United have now lost four matches on the bounce and sit bottom of the table with 14 points.
Up next for Kotoko is an away match against Nsoatreman while Karela host Berekum Chelsea.
