England’s Cara Gainer secured her first Ladies European Tour (LET) title with a dramatic play-off win at the Lalla Meryem Cup.
Gainer, whose previous best finish was second at the 2022 Belgian Ladies Open, claimed her biggest career victory by defeating India’s Diksha Dagar.
The 29-year-old sealed the win with a birdie on the play-off hole, while Dagar made a bogey after both players finished nine under par.
Overnight leader Shannon Tan lost her lead after struggling on the front nine, failing to record any birdies.
Spain’s Nuria Iturrioz briefly led with four straight birdies at the turn, but four bogeys on the back nine dashed her hopes.
"I have come second twice and to come through from play-off is amazing," She told JoySports Nathaniel Attoh.
"Obviously very excited and I am hoping for a fresh start to the season."
Meanwhile, Morocco’s Ines Laklalech and rising star Sofia Cherif fell short of the mark to win the competition.
South Africa’s Casandra Alexander also could not get her performance over the line for the trophy.
The Lalla Meryem Cup is one of the flagship tournaments on the women’s professional circuit.
Having been launched in 1993 by His Late Majesty Kiang Hassan ||, the competition has offered a remarkable platform for world-renowned female golfers.
