George Adjei, the Dormaa Central Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bono Region has withdrawn from the Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive Position race.
Though the reasons for his decision remain unknown, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) learned that the party chairman had since submitted his withdrawal letter to the Bono Regional Vetting Committee.
Mr Daniel Hinne, the Deputy Dormaa Constituency Secretary of the NDC who confirmed the withdrawal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Dormaa-Ahenkro, said eight people including a woman were now vying for the position.
Mr Hinne urged the party members and supporters to remain calm and avoid campaigning for some of the contestants and allowed the vetting committee to do their work to not create factions in the party, saying factionalism could create problems for the party.
