The Ghana Boxing Federation and Trust Sports Emporium, graced by the Sports Ministry, have collaborated to launch the maiden Amateur Boxing League, slated for March 14, 2025.
The event was attended by Sports Minister Kofi Adams, Ghana Olympic Committee President Ben Nunoo Mensah, and other dignitaries.
The league, themed "Unleashing Boxing Stars," is designed as a "proving ground" for the next generation of champions.
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games is the first time in two decades that Ghana was not represented at the global showpiece in boxing.
"This league is not just about winning fights, it's a strategic platform preparing for the biggest stages in the world "the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics","President of Ghana Boxing Federation, Bernard Quartey said.
"Our national team needs to be battle-tested, and this league will do just that."
Trust Sports Emporium has availed its sporting facilities to boxers in the league.
It's Managing Director Madam Shirley Acquah-Harrison added: "This facility was developed with a special focus on creating a pipeline of world champions in what, in Ghana, is commonly referred to as "lesser-funded" sports such as boxing, badminton, table tennis, swimming, fencing etc. "
