St. Augustine's College's Gilbert Ampiah is now a para-athlete, having successfully undergone classification for the T44 sports class in high jump.
He is now ready to take action on the global stage, representing Ghana at the 2025 Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan International Para Athletics Meeting in Marrakech, Morocco.
The competition, scheduled from April 24 to 26, will serve as a qualifier for the Commonwealth and Paralympic Games.
He is expected to compete in the men’s high jump and long jump events.
"We have so much trust in him that he will do well," President of the African Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen told JoySports.
Some of Gilbert's notable achievements include 1.60m height cleared at Ekumfi Atwa in 2023, defeating able-bodied athletes as well as a new personal best of 1.82m at St. Augustine's inter-house competition.
