The Brands Manager of Nations Football Club, Kennedy Boakye Ansah, says 'running football in Ghana' is not worth the investment after his side was involved in chaos in the Ghana Premier League over the weekend.
Nations FC walked off the pitch during their crucial game against Holy Stars, following the award of a second contentious penalty to their opponents.
Tension reached a boiling point in the 33rd minute when Holy Stars were awarded their second penalty of the afternoon — a decision that sparked outrage among Nations FC players and coaching staff.
The club subsequently released a statement detailing the rationale behind their actions.
Speaking on 3FM, Boakye Ansah also revealed the club is contemplating competing in the top flight again, adding that they will file an official complaint to the Ghana Football Association.
"Maybe we might disband Nations FC and forget about running football in this country because it’s not worth it. Whatever we saw today and what we were subjected to, it’s not worth it. We might have to advise ourselves," he said.
"It depends on the report of the match commissioner, but we will file an official complaint to the GFA, and we will see what decision the FA will take. We are not interested in Ghana football anymore. We are tired."
The match, held at the Ampain AAK II Arena, carried immense significance for Kassim Mingle's side, who needed at least a draw to keep their title hopes alive with just one round of fixtures remaining.
