The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, says he has not decided whether to run in the next elections.
His comments followed the approval of the extension of the presidential term from two to three by delegates at the 31st Ordinary Congress of the GFA.
Out of 124 delegates, 114 voted to extend the Presidential term to three following a proposal by the Statute Review Committee.
Speaking to the media following Congress’ extension of the Presidential term limit, Mr Okraku, who is a year and a half into his second term, stated that it was premature for him to make decision on a third time.
“The question about me seeking re-election is premature. We have at the minute two and a half years to serve the Ghanaian game.
“So when it comes to that time, I will make a decision just like many other people who are eligible to contest.
“This should not be the topic for us, but how to handle the new wind that is blowing around our domestic game,” he said.
Mr Okraku further clarified they found an abnormality with the GFA Presidential term and decided to correct it so that it aligns with both CAF and FIFA statutes.
The GFA President also stated that he was focused on improving the local, especially with the unprecedented level of investments made into the local game from colts, women’s and men’s football.
