Executive Council member of the Ghana Football, Oduro Sarfo has defended the proposal to allocate $5,000 for fuel related expenses, despite existing protocol for such.
Along with a proposal to pay management committee members an amount of $10,000 each, the proposed amount for fuel was rejected as government approved $1.3 million for Ghana's World Cup Qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
The GFA had submitted a budget of $2 million for the two games.
The fuel related has since drawn public criticism, but the Oduro Sarfo insists the decision was well thought through.
"The fuel budget is not for the Black Stars bus alone. It extends to vehicles for referees, match commissioner and other key officials."
He further indicated that criticism of the GFA on the matter are either malicious or ignorant.
"Anyone reducing it to just the team bus is either exposing their ignorance or intentionally peddling lies" he concluded.
Details of the GFA's budget proposal were made public by Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams, at a Press Conference on Tuesday.
The GFA has since said it will respond to the contents of Minister's speech after the two qualifiers have been played.
Ghana will face Chad in N'djamena on Thursday at 1 PM, before hosting Mali in Accra on Monday, at 7 PM in separate Group I World Cup Qualifiers.
