The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has rescued a driver who was trapped after a tipper truck accident on the Tema–Akosombo Highway on Monday, September 15, 2025.
According to the GNFS, the Kpong Fire Station received a distress call at 6:21 a.m. and promptly dispatched a rescue team at 6:23 a.m. to Adelekope, a community along the busy highway.
The crew arrived at 6:32 a.m. to find a Howo Tipper Truck with registration number GN 9147-17 that had veered off the road and crashed into a tree.
"The impact left the driver pinned inside the mangled vehicle. Using hydraulic extrication tools, GNFS rescuers managed to free him. He was immediately handed over to personnel from the National Ambulance Service and rushed to the Akuse Government Hospital for medical care."
The cause of the crash is yet to be determined, but officials say investigations are underway. The accident scene was cleared at 8:55 a.m. to restore traffic flow, and the rescue crew returned safely to base at 9:06 a.m
