Basake Holy Stars ended a run of seven games in the Ghana Premier League without a win following their triumph over Bibiani GoldStars on Sunday.
Holy Stars recorded a 2-0 win over GoldStars to pick up their first league win of the season.
GoldStars, who were on a run of four games without a loss, looked favourites prior to the fixture but looked second favourites throughout the game.
Prince Opoku opened the scoring for the home side in the 36th minute of the encounter before Prince Tweneboah added a second four minutes later to make it 2-0.
Holy Stars went into the break with a commanding lead as they chased their first win of the campaign.
They returned from recess even stronger but couldn’t add to their goal tally.
While the home side struggled to add to their lead, the visitors fumbled their options in front of goal.
They took no advantage of the opportunities they created in the opposition’s final third as they succumbed to defeat.
The result sees GoldStars drop to fourth on the league table while Basake Holy Stars move to 17th on the league table after nine games.
