A joint Sogakope-Akatsi Police led operation has led to the arrest of 19 suspects, including seven Nigerian girls, believed to be engaged in the commercial sex trade at a popular joint in Akatsi.
The exercise, which occurred around 1930 hours on Friday, saw the entire Akatsi Township boys, whom some referred to as ‘game boys’, moving out from their usual resting joints.
Mr Daniel Dagba, the Akatsi South Municipal Chief Executive and Chairman of Akatsi South MUSEC, had since confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
He said the suspects were picked up at various locations within the Akatsi township including Ahiatsi Star Pub.
Chief Superintendent Isaac Baah, the acting Sogakope Divisional Police Commander, in an interaction with the GNA, also confirmed the arrests.
He added that the suspects were currently in detention for further action.
Mr Baah also indicated that his personnel remained prepared to ensure that sanity prevailed before, during, and after the Yuletide.
He, however, declined to provide further details regarding the exercise.
