A suspected armed robbery attack at Community 24 in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra was foiled by the police on Sunday, resulting in the death of three suspects.
The incident occurred at 1:30 am on Sunday, December 21.
The Tema Regional Police Command foiled the robbery attempt at a private residence in the area.
In a press statement, the police said six young men wearing face masks and hoodies were encountered at the scene of the incident when the police responded to a distress call.
According to the police, the gang members were armed with machetes, guns, and other offensive weapons.
The suspects, according to the police, first opened fire, and the police returned fire in self-defence, resulting in the deaths.

The Head of Public Affairs at the Tema Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dede Dzakpasu, said the remaining three suspects—believed to have sustained gunshot wounds—managed to escape from the scene.
According to the police, a number of exhibits from the scene, including three face masks, three machetes, and an unregistered Royal 125 motorbike believed to have been used by the suspects, were retrieved, while the bodies of the deceased suspects have been conveyed to the Police Hospital.
