The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has described Desmond Ofei as someone who pays attention to key moments as far as the Black Stars is concerned.
Ofei was handed a permanent role as one of the assistant coaches to Otto Addo following changes to the national team's technical staff.
His appointment came after a spell with Ghana's U-20 side, where he led the team to last year's Africa Cup of Nations, which was played in Egypt.
Quizzed on what Ofei offers the team, Asante Twum pointed out what the former Black Satellites boss offers the senior national team.
"Desmond [Ofei] is more like a game reader or an analyst. He sits on the bench and picks up some of the petty things that his boss (Otto Addo) may not have picked up," he said on Sporty FM
"Also, when they are preparing for the set pieces during the training, he does it with Gregory. When we are defending set pieces, Otto takes a seat, and Desmond comes in. When we are attacking, Gregory comes in, and when they see him, they know what to do.
"In the last five games of the qualifiers during the technical shakeup, we scored more goals from set pieces. It’s because of these combinations that joined."
Ghanaians will be hopeful the Black Stars technical team can take it to the next step when the 2026 World Cup begins later this year.
