Five-time Olympian Felipe Perrone has held high-level engagements with the Ghana Olympic Committee and the Ghana Swimming Association to support Water Polo.
Perrone paid a courtesy call on GOC President Richard Akpokavie on Monday, January 19, at the Olympic House in Ridge.
Mr. Akpokavie welcomed the engagement and assured the visiting legend of the GOC’s readiness to collaborate closely and support GSA to develop WaterPolo in Ghana.
The meeting also focused on the need for stronger institutional backing for the GSA as it works to develop water polo nationwide.
As a representative of World Aquatics, Perrone is playing an active role in advancing the sport across the region.
His visit to Ghana coincided with a Water Polo Coaches Course hosted by Blackstar Polo, with support from the GSA and World Aquatics.
Perrone is a Brazilian-born Spanish water polo player who retired in July 2025 after a career spanning more than two decades.
He competed in five Olympic Games between 2008 and 2024 and captained Spain to gold at the 2025 World Championship, 2024 European Championship, and 2022 World Championship.
