A member of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, Kweku Quarshie, says the former Vice-President is poised for a decisive victory in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries scheduled for 31 January, with delegates ready to vote overwhelmingly in his favour.
Speaking on JoyNews’ News Desk, Mr Quarshie expressed strong confidence that Dr Bawumia would secure an even more emphatic endorsement than in the party’s 2023 contest.
“We believe it will be even stronger than what we saw in 2023,” he said. “The delegates are looking for a few key qualities, and they see all of them in Dr Bawumia.”
He explained that delegates are seeking a leader who understands their concerns and has a clear, practical plan to address them.
“They want someone who listens, keeps track of their concerns, and responds. Dr Bawumia has proposed a welfare system that is practical and commonsensical. Delegates will embrace that,” he said.
Mr Quarshie added that humility and openness rank high among the qualities delegates value.
“They want someone who is humble enough to listen, who won’t judge you based on your clothes, wealth, or background. That’s exactly what they see in Dr Bawumia,” he emphasised.
He further noted that delegates are looking for bold and innovative ideas capable of transforming both the party and the country.
“Having served as Vice-President, Dr Bawumia has shown radical thinking that is already making a difference for the nation,” he said.
Mr Quarshie’s remarks come amid growing anticipation ahead of the NPP primaries, as delegates prepare to choose the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
