Ghana midfielder Cletus Nombil has reiterated his desire to earn a call-up to the Black Stars, describing the opportunity to represent the nation as a “dream come true”.
The 25-year-old, who plies his trade with FC Zlín in the Czech National League, has been one of the club’s key performers this season despite suffering relegation in his first year after joining from Israeli side Hapoel Jerusalem.
The former Dreams FC midfielder has featured 18 times across competitions, scoring once, and continues to establish himself as an influential figure in Zlín’s midfield.
Speaking to JoySports via Zoom, the 187cm-tall midfielder opened up about his ambition to play for Ghana’s senior national team.
“It is every footballer’s dream to represent their country, to serve the nation and fulfil personal ambitions,” Nombil told JoySports.
“For me, it is also about my family seeing me play for the national team and giving my absolute best for Ghana.”
He added that conversations with players already in the Black Stars setup have further fueled his motivation.
“There is a special feeling that comes with wearing the national colours. We speak to some of the Ghanaian players already in the team, and they tell us what it means. That only strengthens my desire. I am 100 per cent committed and ready to represent the Black Stars.”
“When I get the chance to represent the Black Stars, I can bring stability, progressive football and real energy in midfield.”
