Ghana’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Hammed Rashid Tunde, has praised Team Ghana for their medal-winning feat at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai.
The delegation claimed four medals at the competition, which also serves as the final direct qualification event for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Zainabu Issah claimed two silver medals in the Women’s Discus Throw and Women’s Shot Put, while Hayford Addai secured bronze in the Men’s 400 metres before sprinting to gold in the Men’s 100 metres.
“These gallant daughter and sons of Mother Ghana participated in myriad competitions and proved that the horizons of our dear people of determination are boundless," he said.
“Beyond the prowess they demonstrated in their respective disciplines, in four disciplines in particular, our athletes excelled.”
“I say “Ayekoo ” to the entire Team Ghana, athletes and technical staff alike, on behalf of the Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Ghana to the UAE. We are proud of you!”
“I wish you the very best in your individual careers and I thank you on behalf of the young athletes you have inspired by your achievements”
Team Ghana will now turn attention to the road toward Glasgow 2026.
