Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, has been sued for conducting deliverance on a girl in a school premises.
The popular actress was slammed with a $145,750 lawsuit at a Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court by human rights lawyer, Ikechukwu Obasi.
Obasi, who filed the suit on behalf of the Rivers State-born Junior Secondary School, JSS 1 student, emphasised that the teenage girl was subjected to what he tagged as a harmful religious ritual, which was later shared online.
He further noted that the circulation of the clip without the girl’s consent violated her privacy rights “under Section 37 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Child Rights Act 2003”.
While demanding $145,750 in damages, public apology, and removal of the footage from all social media platforms, Obasi also urged the court to declare the act a violation of the girl’s constitutional right to dignity and personal privacy.
Tonto Dikeh had shared a video some days ago of her carrying out a spiritual deliverance on a schoolgirl during her visit to a secondary school in Durumi II, Abuja.
