The Wettey and Donkor families have expressed their profound gratitude to the public for the overwhelming support received as they mourn the loss of their sons in the tragic microlight aircraft crash at Tema Community 1.
In a statement issued on March 21, the families confirmed the deaths of Captain Frank Amoanyi Donkor and Elijah Ofori Donkor, who perished in the incident on March 16, 2026.
The two were described as “bright lights” full of promise, warmth, and life—a loss the families say they are still struggling to come to terms with.
“With a heavy heart of loss, the Wettey and Donkor families announce the passing of our beloved sons. Their sudden departure is one we are still struggling to come to terms with,” the statement read.

The families extended their appreciation to state agencies, including the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, the Ghana National Fire Service, and the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau (AIB Ghana), for their swift response and professionalism in handling the aftermath of the crash.
As they navigate this difficult period, the families have appealed to the public, media, and well-wishers to respect their privacy.
“As we go through this challenging moment, we humbly appeal to the public, the media and all well-wishers to kindly grant our families the space and privacy to grieve,” the statement added.
They thanked the public for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support, noting that details regarding funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.
