Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Frederick Asare, has revealed that he was not disappointed after missing out on a call-up to Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting that the players selected deserved their places.
The goalkeeper made 4 appearances for Durban City Football Club in South Africa in the 2025/26 season.
Speaking to Nhyira FM, Asare said, “I wasn’t worried about missing the World Cup call-up because I feel those who got in deserve it more.”
His comments come amid growing competition for places in the team, particularly in the goalkeeping department.
Several players have been battling for selection including Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Asare.
Frederick believes “Benjamin Asare's strengths are his aerial ability and calmness in post.”
Despite not making the squad, Asare maintained a positive outlook and emphasized the importance of hard work and patience.
The shot-stopper believes opportunities with the national team will come if he continues to perform consistently at club level.
