Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA) and Deputy National Youth Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Osman Ayariga, has taken a swipe at the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing it of failing to take its role seriously both while in government and now as an opposition party.

Mr Ayariga said while the NDC was campaigning on policies and programmes ahead of the 2024 general election, the then-ruling NPP was “dancing” instead of focusing on the issues and engaging Ghanaians on the policies that mattered to them.

He said the NDC had since assumed office and was delivering on the promises it made during the election campaign.

“While we were campaigning on policies in 2024, the NPP, which was then in government, was dancing. Today, President John Dramani Mahama is implementing the promises we made to Ghanaians, and the NPP, which is now in opposition, is still dancing. They are not taking their job as an opposition party seriously,” he said.

Mr Ayariga made the remarks on Saturday, August 8, when he addressed the NDC Western Regional Youth Wing Conference at the Takoradi Technical University.

His comments were also a reference to the NPP’s “Democracy Under Attack” demonstration staged on Thursday, August 6, as he urged the NDC youth to remain focused on mobilising support for the government and communicating its policies and achievements to the public.
