OLA SHS, Ho, entered the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) preliminaries with hopes of pulling off a major upset against Aburi Presby SHTS and Our Lady of Lourdes Girls’ SHS.
Those hopes, however, quickly faded as Aburi Presby took control from the opening round and never relinquished the lead.

OLA SHS stayed within striking distance through the first three rounds, but Aburi Presby kept its composure to finish strongly on 51 points, 10 clear of OLA SHS’ 41 points.
For OLA SHS, the defeat was softened by a consolation prize, as the school won the GOIL Riddle Bonanza.

Our Lady of Lourdes Girls’ SHS, meanwhile, struggled to make an impact, ending the contest on 13 points.
The NSMQ preliminaries continue, with more schools making the cut for the next stage, while others are seeing their campaigns end sooner than they had hoped.

The 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz is produced by Primetime Limited and sponsored by the Ghana Education Service, with support from Goil PLC, Prudential Life Insurance, Pepsodent, Trustur AI, Jupay Money Transfer, Lumevax, GTP, SpinCITI Laundromat, Didi Jollof, Bel Beverages, Accra College of Medicine, Coronation Insurance and Academic City University.
